I don't subscribe to cashless

Cashless shops were far and few between before the COVID pandemic. Since the pandemic there has been a prolific rise in the number of shops and establishments changing over to a cashless method of payment. This is infuriating and in some instances prejudicial to certain members of our society, such as, homeless who don't have bank accounts, older people who struggle with cards and the young who don't have cards. Mostly this has hit me with the smaller companies I am trying to support instead of the larger corporate companies . The smaller businesses are trying to be all funky and hipster to attract those with a more discernable income where the £ in their worlds is of little value (see below)

Today I went into a lovely little cafe attached to a cemetery to grab a cup of tea. When I offered a five pound note I was told that they don't do cash. I purchased with my card but thanks, I will now not use your cafe any longer , if you can be diverse in your food and drink offerings, please offer the two very acceptable and everyday norm of using cash along with your cards.

I am sitting, drinking my tea,and notice another major bugbear, the dreaded menu:

4.20
3.10
5.40

What does that mean? 4.2 pence, 4.2 dollars? Stop this poncy dropping of the pound sterling signifier as it is a move only adopted to try and look trendy and keep up with the competition. So now I have two reasons not to visit your cafe and will now go to a  corporate mainstream place to get a cheaper tea where the prices are £1.30 and not 2.00.

You serve a traditional sausage roll but I cannot pay for it by way of the traditional monetary exchange mechanism, nice selective use of the term traditional.

I am going to walk through the graveyard now and apologise to all the folk long gone for such a shambles we are making of the world they left behind
